Fine Gael Meath East TD, Regina Doherty, today welcomed the assurances by the Department of Social Protection that the administrative arrangements for the 2012 Back to School Clothing & Footwear Allowance (BSCFA) Scheme are similar to those that applied in 2011.
“Over 110,000 payments are due to be made around the country, a number of which will be fully automated with no application form required, meaning that many families do not have to apply for the payment this year.
“This payment is extremely important for families across the country. The costs associated with the start of the school year put a huge strain on family budgets and I welcome the fact that the process has begun at this stage.
“Letters will issue to the people concerned at the end of next week informing them of their entitlement and notifying them that payment will issue in week commencing 16 July.
“ Anyone in the Meath East who is unsure of their entitlement or has difficulty with the Department of Social Protection or their application can contact my constituency office at 01 825 7204 “
